In case you are new around these parts, I’ll catch you up to speed on why my family and I have been doing a spending freeze for so long.

In June of 2014, my husband quit his job of nearly 5 years. He actually had plans to stick around for a while, but some problems started happening with other co-workers and he decided he would be happier if he left. He found a job right away, but his pay was cut nearly in half. I’m a stay-at-home mom, so this was a huge shock to us and our finances. We had to figure out a way to stay afloat without going into debt or losing everything.

So we started a spending freeze. We started making small changes to our spending habits that saved us money instantly. We are to a point now that we are only spending money on our most basic needs.

At the beginning of 2015, my husband started his own business. This meant that we actually had zero income for a while. We had to start using our savings to get us through. We still do not have a steady income from his business, but we are finding ways to make it work. Sometimes I am able to make a little bit of money from my blog, which is a huge blessing (and I truly appreciate anyone who has directly helped me earn money through affiliate links).

But we continue to be in a spending freeze.

So whether you need to do a spending freeze or you would just like to try it out and see how it can affect your life, please jump in and do this One Month Spending Freeze Challenge whenever you can. This spending freeze has changed my life forever, and I believe it can change yours as well.
