Turn Your Kids into Spooky Lil’ Things with PicMonkey

It’s the first day of the scariest month of the year! I’m not a huge fan of all the creepy, spooky stuff surrounding Halloween, but I do love candy!

You don't have to paint your child's face or dress them in costume for Halloween. All you need is PicMonkey and you can turn them into the creepiest lil' thing around!

You wouldn’t believe my first and only experience in a haunted house.

Ok, you really wanna know? When I was about 11 or 12, I went to Lagoon for Frightmares (Lagoon is an amusement park and Frightmares is when the park is taken over by all things Halloween). They had a few haunted houses you could go to, and I went in one with my dad and younger brother. A few minutes in, both me and my younger brother were pretty scared (I remember a human head being on a table), so we took the emergency exit. I’ve never been to a haunted house since. I just can’t muster the courage.

I’m too easily spooked, and I can’t get stuff out of my mind. I can’t watch scary movies…at all. If I watch even one scene, I’ll be up all night. During the day I’ll check over my shoulder to make sure nothing is there. Like, I’m genuinely paranoid.

But I think it’s fun to do a little dressing up and make some Halloween treats.

I am loving the edits you can do in PicMonkey* to take an ordinary photo and make it look like the person spent hours in a makeup chair. Take a look at the edits I did on my baby girl for Dia de los Muertos.

I know this would actually be more appropriate one month from now on November 1st, which is Dia de los Muertos, but I thought it looked like a fun one.

The effect I did on my toddler is almost too much for me to handle. I might be creeped out for the next few days.

You see?! It’s spooky!! She could be a really convincing vampire!

Here’s to the next 31 days of Fall fun and Halloween festivities!

Aaaaahh Love IT! I had so much fun doing that with all of my kids last year. Your toddler does look especially freaky haha! Hey did you get a new comment system in that I’m just noticing? Do you like it?

    • Thanks, Leilani! I am using Disqus now (since last Friday)! I like the look a whole lot more than the commenting system I previously had (which was the basic wordpress one). It’s probably easier to comment, too!

  2. Oh. My. Goodness. I cannot stop laughing at your vampire baby!! This is totally awesome! Doing this today. Gah, I know all our friends and family will love it.

  3. Oh goodness that is just too awesome!

  4. OK these are pretty awesome and creepy! I gotta try this.

  5. Your edits are AWEEESOME. As far as haunted houses go…I’m right there with you! Though I’ve tried on maybe…5 occasions throughout my life to go through a haunted house, I have never in my life made it through one. I always end up hysterically screaming, crying, and being escorted out by a monster that pleads that “It’s okay” as they show me the way to fresh air. I’m way too easily freaked out and it stays with me. NOT fun! lol But it makes me feel so much better knowing I’m not the only one because I haven’t met someone that is as serious about being scared as me. Traumatizing! Though movies I watch, I always regret it for about a week. sad.

    • Thank you SO MUCH, Rebecca! You have to try it on one of Dylan’s pictures! Everybody thinks I’m a huge wimp, but I guess I’m not the only one! You’re so much braver than I am going in that many haunted houses and watching scary movies. I have a long ways to go!

  6. These are pretty convinsing photos. Good job! I have done something similar on our children photos. Grandparents werent so happy with the zombie upgrades 🙂
